Supporting Services around SNIEC Will Reach a New Level by 2010

According to the Eleven-Five Plan of Shanghai Pudong Commercial Development, the problem of lacking of enough supporting services like hotels, catering shops, business offices and other relevant relaxing facilities around Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) is on the road to be overcome.

At the moment, we can see that the two large projects near by SNIEC are under construction including the Shangri-La's Kerry Centre and Himalayas Art Museum & Hotel. The Shangri-La's Kerry Centre started construction on November of last year, and will be opened in mid-2010. The 230,000-square-metre multi-purpose complex, being built adjacent to the North Entrance Hall of SNIEC, will consist of a 31-storey five-star hotel, a 26-storey apartment hotel, a 39-storey office building and a 40,000-square retail mall. Alike, the Himalayas Art Museum & Hotel is another kind of complex which includes a luxury hotel, an event business tower, a contemporary art hall and a culture square. The building stands on the opposite of SNIEC, and plans to be finished by the end of 2009.

As the complete of SNIEC expansion projects as well as the inauguration in succession of those kinds of facilities (involving the underground subway Route No. 7 terminal station located in the opposite side of SNIEC west halls), it can be believed the total service level of SNIEC and Pudong event industry will achieve a new altitude by 2010.
